Former Arkansas Te will return to Fayetteville with new team in 2025
When the portal opened, so did the floodgates to Arkansas’s outgoing transfers. However, a few had already left the team before the final game against Missouri, including tight end Ty Washington.
After playing Mississippi State, head Coach Sam Pittman informed the media that two players were no longer with the team. Var’Keyes Gumms and Washington were removed that weekend for unspecified reasons. Both players joined popular podcasts to share their side of the story, but specifically for Washington, he stated his refusal to play against the Bulldogs was grounds for his dismissal.
Life in the portal didn’t last long for him, though. On Christmas day, the former Razorback found a new home in the Hoosier State, committing to Notre Dame. The Irish just finished mopping the floor with instate rival Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoffs, so it’s a massive landing sport for the talented TE. He’s the second Hog to transfer to a current CFP team after Brad Spence committed to Texas.
Interestingly, Washington will return to Fayetteville in the gold and blue next season. In 2025, on September 20, Arkansas will play Notre Dame in the nonconference schedule. It will be the first ever meeting between the programs.
The transfer portal pendulum has swung back, picking up 11 transfers in the last week. Previously, Arkansas gained big-time offensive line commitment from Jac’Qawn McRoy, followed by a few solid yet less exciting transfers, including wide receiver Raylen Sharpe, cornerback Kani Walker, and defensive end Ken Talley.
While it was nowhere near the 27 outgoing transfers that the Razorbacks lost in the first couple of days, it was a decent start to the portal season. Arkansas struggled on the offensive line the last two seasons, and the first pickup was a former four-star lineman. Little did fans know that foreshadowed what would happen this past week.
Three more OL called the Hogs, including the best blocking tackle in the country.

The Razorbacks also landed an electric punt returner in Kam Shanks, stole New Mexico State running back Mike Washington from Utah, reloaded the secondary with Cincinnati CB Jordan Young and Eastern Michigan safety Quentavious Scandreet.
On top of that, they beefed up the defensive line with edge Justus Boone from Florida and Abilene Christian defensive tackle David Oke, and landed a talented young tight end from Texas A&M in Jaden Platt. Last but not least, the Razorbacks finally landed a WR over six feet tall in O’Mega Blake from Charlotte.
