‘Sorry guys…’ – Sky Sports pundit laughs off West Ham news from past 24 hours
Sky Sports pundit laughs at suggestion West Ham United are interested in Bayer Leverkusen ace Victor Boniface
Sky Sports pundit Dougie Critchley has laughed at the suggestion that West Ham are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.
At the end of the season, TEAMtalk revealed on Friday, November 10, that the Irons could try to sign one of Europe’s top prospects.
But considering his performance for Leverkusen, Boniface should also be on the radar of several heavyweight teams around the continent.
On November 11, Critchley responded to the rumors on his own Twitter profile, saying, “I’m sorry people you missed the boat.
“Leading the most dynamic team in Europe with 10 goals and 6 assists in 14 League and Europa League games…
“Real Madrid is more likely to sign Victor Boniface than West Ham!”
No chance
It would be simple to pick apart Critchley and argue that United would be Boniface’s natural next move, but there is something to his argument.
The summer transfer window before the Nigerian’s transfer from Union Saint-Gilloise to Bayer Leverkusen was when West Ham had any chance of signing him.
Since then, in just 15 games across all competitions for his new club, Boniface has 11 goals and six assists.
Since Boniface is now one of the best players in the game, teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona will be interested in signing him.
Leverkusen has no motive to sell, so that alone does not even go into the equation. At this point, his worth may very well be in the nine-figure range.
Although this is a rumor that looks to be far off, Boniface would surely be the last missing piece in West Ham’s offensive jigsaw.
