Forgotten Tottenham man handed perfect January transfer exit route as European giants circle

has struggled to make an impact during his four-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur and could find a perfect transfer exit in January

Italian reports claim Barcelona is holding onto Giovani Lo Celso, the rejected player from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine’s departure from Spurs was frequently mentioned throughout the summer. Since moving to North London from Real Betis in 2019, the midfielder has struggled with injuries, including a hamstring problem this season.

Lo Celso is being connected to Betis, who is led by former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini, as a potential destination.Despite rumors of interest, Ange Postecoglou was pleased that the 27-year-old would stay at Tottenham. However, with James Maddison emerging and Rodrigo Bentancur gradually returning to full health, it’s possible that the player would be deemed surplus to needs.

With little over 18 months remaining on Lo Celso’s contract, January might be the best month for Spurs to earn a substantial transfer fee. Although the La Liga powerhouses are linked to signing the Argentine, another formidable player from Europe poses a threat to Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez.

According to Tutto Sport, Juventus would compete with the Catalans for the signing of Lo Celso in the midst of their midfield quandary. Paul Pogba, a former Manchester United misfit who tested positive for testosterone, has been placed on temporary suspension, while Nicolo Fagioli was handed a seven-month sentence two weeks ago for breaking betting laws.

If Postecoglou allows him to depart, Lo Celso would offer a fairly cost substitute. The midfielder has only played 24 minutes in the Premier League, thus is hardly a vital player of the team, and any money recovered might be used to strengthen other positions.
