Bellingham fires Tottenham message to Maddison after wild transfer theory
After James Maddison scored in Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Fulham, Jude Bellingham sent him a note. After skipper Son Heung-min gave Spurs the lead after 36 minutes, the 25-year-old increased their lead in the second half. The win returned the Lilywhites to the top of the Premier League standings.
Maddison has been in outstanding form since joining from Leicester City in the summer. His goal against the Cottagers was his eighth Premier League goal assist in nine games. Prior to Monday, all of those had left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as Maddison acknowledged during the match, expressing his happiness at finally scoring in front of 60,000 Spurs fans.
“I’m really happy,” he said. “I keep seeing the numbers flash up that all of my goal contributions have been made when I’ve been away from home. I’m rather content because it’s wonderful to get things going here with a strong showing and a victory that moves us back in the standings.
Additionally, Maddison talked about working with Ange Postecoglou, divulging the Spurs manager’s strategies and what he is doing to fundamentally alter north London. “It’s one of the main messages [pressing high],” he stated. “His managed teams have always been front-pressing sides, if you look back at them.
“On his first day, he declared that high pressing is never acceptable at any point in the game. We may have played in a preseason game when we went up 2-0 and took a moment to relax before he went off at halftime. It was Shakhtar Donetsk who made the comment. He compared it to how Tottenham had played in the past and insisted that pressing should continue for the whole of the match.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, and Bellingham of Real Madrid all received a note from Maddison along with his post-game remarks. He shared a tale on Instagram with the hashtag “sheriffs [Saluting and England flag emoji]” and tagged the group in it.
Bellingham responded by using the bullseye and saluting emojis in a post to mark the triumph. As they both look to compete for the No. 10 position in Gareth Southgate’s England team, the two seem to have developed quite the bond while serving on international service.
After Bellingham was seen with some Spurs youth talents while working out with England at Hotspur Way, a wild Tottenham transfer theory started to circulate. The set of photos was shared on Instagram by England and Spurs along with the statement, “So much love for @judebellingham [blue heart emoji].”
Understandably this caused quite the response from the Tottenham supporters with Postecoglou being instructed to ‘lock the doors’ by X user @kelvin.jse. While @4brbible added: “Bellingham to spurs here we go [handshake and laughing emojis].”
