‘He’s a liability’: Pundit says £4m Tottenham player is way too slow

Since Eric Dier is now not a starter for Tottenham Hotspur, it makes sense that he might leave for another club in January.

As Jose Mourinho tries to reunite with the England international, AS Roma is one team that is reportedly interested in Dier this winter.

Stuart Robson, who spoke on ESPN, cautioned Mourinho against signing Dier in January, arguing that the £4 million defender is a liability and much too slow to manage the demands of modern-day top-flight football.

Too slow

Robson mentioned Dier’s sluggishness.

What do you desire? Do you prefer a solid defender over someone who is able to play passes into the front players? If you want a solid defender, I wouldn’t recommend getting Eric Dier since he’s not quick enough, doesn’t recognize danger quickly enough, and is therefore a liability. However, if you want someone who will just play out from the back, you might want him. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it because I’m not a fan of Eric Dier right now.

Could work in Italy

In spite of the fact that Dier’s lack of speed has exposed him in the Premier League over the past 18 months or so, he might find his finest form again in Italy.

Edin Dzeko and Ciro Immobile have frequently been among the top scorers in Serie A’s slower-paced league during the previous ten years, which could be ideal for Dier.

We’ve seen that Dier can succeed in a Mourinho team, so moving him to Roma in an effort to revive his career may not be the worst idea in the world.
