Worst Nightmare To Joel Osteen: His Wife Victoria Osteen Insist On Divorce Because Of........

Christians should not hate anyone, although we struggle with the virtue of unconditional love. It is hard, for example, to have “loved” Charles Manson. He certainly did not make it easy to do. With that disclaimer. I will make the following observations:
John Osteen, Joel’s father, was a fine Bible teacher While I am not in the “Word of Faith” camp. he was one of the best representatives of integrity in that class. His Bible teaching was at least consistent, and he made his claims with alacrity and clarity. One felt he had done his homework, and his entire demeanor was one of seeking the best for those under the sound of his voice. His wife, Dodie, having been healed of metastatic cancer of the liver, usually a fatal disease, was a “lady”, a representative of women of her generation in dignity, class and decorum. The church they started in a feed store building grew to huge size over the years. His television broadcast lacked one thing common to almost everyone else, public appeals for contributions. The church provided the television ministry – always a redaction of their actual services, as a public service. They only bought as much time around the world as they could budget without “going public” with fund raising.
Rarely, they would send a letter to bona fide contacts with a low-key information of a temporary financial need. One never had the idea that they were “begging” for money. When John died, he left this huge church and successful television ministry. The big question was WHO to bring in to replace him. Apparently, Joel, who had not gained the same level of seminary training as his father (John was originally a Southern Baptist minister), stepped up, and the powers that be at Lakewood Church decided to “keep it in the family”. Joel’s lack of theological prowess was and is apparent to anyone who observes and appreciates such things. However, that has not stopped him from publishing simplistic, positive-thinking “blessing” books (Your Best Life Now and the like) that offer pat formulas for complex problems. Anyone can preach prosperity when they have inherited a money tree.
Victoria exudes “entitlement”. Her altercation in the First Class section of a plane with a flight attendant probably revealed an unprofessional attitude by the flight attendant, and perhaps a bit of opportunism to go after a payday from a famous “moneybag”, but the truth is, Victoria demonstrates a lot of ways to NOT be a Christian in her attitude. Even her on stage personna demonstrates an individual who speaks mainly because that’s her role, not because she actually knows anything. Her mother-in-law Dodie had enough sense to go by the old prayer, “Lord fill my mouth with worthwhile stuff, and nudge me when I have said enough”. Victoria would get that nudge early and often, but she seems impervious to it.
Just my opinion. A certain faction of American Christianity has decided that “gain is godliness”. It is a sad state. If we have money we have the right to be heard and respected, even when we have nothing to say and act in a disrespectable fashion. Its everywhere politics, business, down at the country club…sadly, those demons have infiltrated the Church too.
