He was instrumental in Exeter’s 2020 double triumph, securing both the Investec Champions Cup and the Premiership title. Following a season at Ulster, he concluded his professional journey in Cape Town.

His departure adds to a series of recent retirements within the Stormers squad. Prop Brok Harris, a stalwart of the team, retired after nearly 500 professional matches, citing a knee injury sustained during a United Rugby Championship clash against Benetton . Additionally, Springbok prop Steven Kitshoff was compelled to retire earlier this year due to a severe neck injury, concluding a career that included 138 caps for South Africa and two Rugby World Cup victories .
