Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Alassane Plea is reportedly prepared to take a pay cut in order to extend his stay at the club. According to Sport Bild, the 32-year-old Frenchman is keen to continue his journey with Gladbach, where he has played since 2018, and talks over a contract extension are progressing well.

Plea has just completed his best season in several years, playing a key role under head coach Gerardo Seoane. The versatile attacker featured in 30 Bundesliga matches, scoring 11 goals and assisting six—his highest goal contribution since the 2021/22 campaign. Seoane used Plea in multiple attacking positions throughout the season, which allowed the veteran forward to thrive.

One of Plea’s standout performances came on matchday 26, when he scored a hat trick against Werder Bremen, a feat that drew praise from both Seoane and sporting director Roland Virkus. His experience and adaptability have made him a crucial figure in the squad.

Despite reported interest from clubs in France and England, Plea appears to prioritize stability and a long-term future at Gladbach. According to the same report, he is seeking a contract extension until 2028, which would likely see him retire at the club.

Given his age and market value, Gladbach is unlikely to gain a significant transfer fee by selling him. As such, extending his contract—especially with Plea willing to reduce his salary—could be a logical and beneficial decision for both parties.

If the deal goes through, it would be a strong sign of loyalty from Plea and further evidence of Borussia Mönchengladbach’s commitment to building around experienced, reliable players as they plan for the future under Seoane.
