OH NO! New Chiefs signing RULED out of Soweto Derby due too …

Kaizer Chiefs fans would’ve been excited to see they’re new fire power upfront tested against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby but…

Kaizer Chiefs bolstered their squad by signing three players in the recently concluded transfer window.

There had been an emphasis on adding more quality and experience to the Chiefs squad in 2025 and beyond.

Chiefs signed two experienced forwards

The club currently finds itself fifth in the Betway Premiership where they have been inconsistent. They were embarrassed 4-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns in a Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final was well. That loss arguably was the turning point for the Chiefs coaching staff and management in terms of their approach. Furthermore, they knew they needed to help youngsters Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo VilakaziWandile Duba and Samkelo Zwane with some experience.

Subsequently, they went on to sign DRC international winger Glody Lilepo, striker Tashreeq Morris and Thabo Cele. The two forwards Lilepo and Morris were confirmed to have signed a 2-and-a-half year deals. While midfielder Cele, however, has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with Chiefs.

With Chiefs desperate to change their fortunes in front of goal, their fans will be hoping for an instant impact. Especially with the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates providing an enticing platform to do so. New striker Morris would’ve been chomping at the bit to get involved. But now, unfortunately for Amakhosi, they will not get see the lanky marksman in action this weekend.

Morris ruled out of Soweto Derby clash vs Pirates

According to the PSL, Morris is still suspended! The league states that he still needs to serve one more match. Unfortunately for him and the Chiefs faithful, that will be the Soweto Derby against Pirates. It s suggested that had the club registered him before SuperSport United’s Nedbank Cup game against Magesi FC, he would’ve been eligible.

Chiefs fans, how do you feel about missing both Duba and now Morris for the Soweto Derby? Pirates fans, is this a big boost? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
