Confirmed: Key Kaizer Chiefs star to miss Soweto Derby vs Pirates! Due too… ..
Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly lost a key attacker and one of their top goal scorers ahead of the Soweto Derby vs Orlando Pirates
There will be mixed feelings for Kaizer Chiefs as they enter the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates this weekend.
Chiefs will have both a two wins momentum as well as new signings bounce ahead of the game against Pirates.
Chiefs have momentum ahead of the Soweto Derby
Over the weekend, Chiefs made easy work of Free Agents FC to progress to the next round of the Nedbank Cup. They opened the scoring through Pule Mmodi who is starting to enjoy a bit of moment in the starting line up. The former Golden Arrows winger scored a brace to set Chiefs well on their way in the first half. They went into the break 2-0 thanks to his exploits on the left flank. The second half would see two more goals from Inacio Miguel and much maligned striker Ranga Chivaviro. There was also a second clean sheet in a row for goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma.
But that result did not come without a casualty. In the first half, striker Wandile Duba was stretchered off after an awkward landing. He was seen grimacing in major pain on the sidelines before being substituted. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, he will be out for over a month. This ruling him out for Chiefs against Pirates in the Soweto Derby.
“He (Duba) went for scanning yesterday and that’s when they (Chiefs doctors) were sure that he will be out for about a month and a half. He will actually be out for 42 days. It’s a knee injury. He twisted it and got injured. Very bad, my brother, but 42 days is not that bad though.” Said a source to the same publication.
Duba to miss Pirates fixture
A second source admits it’s a massive blow for Chiefs to not have Duba for the Soweto Derby against Pirates.
“The team (Chiefs) needed him in this Soweto Derby and him (Duba) as a player also wanted to play and that’s a big blow for the team. But you know, injuries are part of the game. Now he has just to focus on healing and to come back strong,” said the source.
