‘I can put my house on that’ “Look, he is a big, strong player, physically very good, very honest player, – ex-Pirates coach backs Kaizer Chiefs new man.

Former Orlando Pirates head coach Roger De Sa has tipped Tashreeq Morris to succeed at Kaizer Chiefs.

The 30-year-old striker reportedly joined Amakhosi two weeks ago from SuperSport United. Having scored just two goals this season, some Chiefs fans are sceptical about the striker.

Given the lack of goals from strikers, it remains to be seen if Morris would solve their problems upfront. De Sa is backing the former Cape Town City star to succeed at Chiefs.

Ex-Pirates coach on new Kaizer Chiefs star’s strengths

“I coached him as a youngster at Ajax Cape Town when he was breaking through into the first team,” De Sa told FARPost. “He became a regular in the first team at a young age. We played him as an outright number nine, but sometimes, he could play out on the wing because of his speed and aggression, and he was willing to get into the box.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has two strong strikers at his disposal which are Ranga Chivaviro and Morris. The two are unlikely to start together but with Ranga relegated to the bench, Morris is likely to start the next matches.

“Look, he is a big, strong player, physically very good, very honest player, he works extremely hard, De Sa on Morris. ” But technically, I wouldn’t say he is your top player. He is not the type of guy who’s got fantastic abilities, but he has enough, and he makes up for it with his hard work and honesty in the game.

“One thing you can be sure of with Tashreeq Morris is that he will always give 100 per cent; I can put my house on that; he will always give his best in every game and training session,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nabi will have to get the best out of Morris like Gavin Hunt did in the five months. Time will tell if Amakhosi made the right decision.
