West Ham United are ‘making a serious attempt’ to sign Brian Brobbey from Ajax before the end of the transfer window.

That’s according to De Telegraaf, who report that West Ham have contacted the Ajax striker and his management about a move.

The newspaper states that while West Ham are ‘charmed’ by Andre Silva at RB Leipzig, the transfer does not seem viable for financial reasons.

That’s seen them turn their attention to Brobbey, but there would also be a lot of puzzling involved with signing him as well.

There’s a ‘proposal on the table’ to sign him on loan for six months with a mandatory purchase included in the summer transfer window. That mandatory fee would be €30m plus €5m in ‘easily achievable’ bonuses.

Ajax have already rejected a proposal from Marseille for Brobbey earlier this month worth €25m. That was labelled as insufficient. Thus, they do not intend to offer any discounts to a Premier League side like West Ham.

The Hammers are currently desperately trying to find a striker after losing Michail Antonio and Niklas Füllkrug to long-term injuries. That’s seen them target loan deals and Silva appeared to be a done deal but now it is Brobbey in the spotlight instead.
