Bad  News: Kaizer Chiefs give up on signing Oswin Appollis due to…

Kaizer Chiefs had their fans excited after launching an improved bid to try beat arch rivals Orlando Pirates to Oswin Appollis but have they admitted defeat?

Kaizer Chiefs are looking to attack the current transfer window aggressively ahead of its closure next week.

Chiefs are desperate to add some quality and experienced depth to their squad to save their season.

The club fans got excited after it reports that Chiefs had sent a significant offer for Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis. The Bafana Bafana winger was a huge target of the club even in the previous window. Club sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr had even admitted live on radio that the club had approached ‘Rise and Shine’. In the end a move didn’t materialise and then ahead of the current window arch rivals Orlando Pirates became favourites.

Chiefs submitted bid for Appollus

In the end the move to Pirates didn’t materialise and that doesn’t look like it will change. Unfortunately for Chiefs, it doesn’t seem like their bid for Appollis will be successful either. According to FARPost who broke the news, Polokwane are looking to retain the player at all costs!

“Amakhosi submitted a fresh offer for Bafana Bafana winger, Appollis, early in January 2025. However, their latest efforts also hit a snag, with Polokwane City FC uninterested in selling the player. City are keen to retain Appollis, recognising him as one of their best talents. Their ambition is to secure a top-three finish and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup, a goal Appollis plays a crucial role in achieving. He has made 13 appearances this season, scoring two goals for the Limpopo side. On the international stage, Appollis has been impressive for Bafana Bafana, netting two goals and providing four assists. At this point, a transfer seems unlikely.” Wrote the publication.

Give up and settle on Lilepo?

Chiefs seem to have admitted defeat in the pursuit of Appollis after their latest transfer activity. Amakhosi have reached an agreement to sign DRC international winger Glody Lilepo. This could just mean that Amakhosi will return at the end of the season for the 24-year-old, however.
