Good news:Ex-Pirates and Sundowns striker ready to join Kaizer Chiefs

Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus has opened up about a possible move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns striker Kermit Erasmus has finally addressed the possibility of him joining Kaizer Chiefs.

Since leaving the Buccaneers in June, the 34-year-old former Bafana Bafana has been linked with a move to Naturena. During an interview with Soccerbeat, Erasmus explained why he did not want to join Cape Town Spurs or Chippa United.

“I’m always staying ready. A lot of people who understand football know what I’m about,” the ex-Pirates star on the possibility of joining Kaizer Chiefs.

Erasmus, who is a free agent, revealed that he trained with Spurs for a week.

“I spoke to the chairman (Ari Efstathiou) and I had a good chat with him about being able to train and the coach wanted to know what my intentions were and that was to see if it would be possible to join the team and it was more to keep fit. They were happy with what they saw in a short space of time – I think I just trained for a week.

Ex-Pirates star not closing door on Kaizer Chiefs

“From the offer they presented me through my agent, it just wasn’t worth my time and the chairman opened his door to me and if ever I want to come back and work on the strikers, I’ve always shown my appreciation to that and he knows that.

“It was a good period to train with the boys and be around the facility and be around football again. I had a different idea of what I thought would be an offer. It is not that I was not happy with the offer, it just was not agreed on,” Erasmus explained

The former Pirates striker can become one of the few players to have represented the big three if he ends up joining Kaizer Chiefs. The chances of him playing for Amakhosi are very slim given his age and how his second spell went with the Buccaneers.
