Here we go: Celtic signs £59m player ahead EPL team he only wants Celtic

United are preparing for a Europa League clash with Rangers on Thursday as they look to put Sunday’s 3-1 Premier League loss to Brighton and Hove Albion behind them. Ruben Amorim’s side are unbeaten in Europe this season with three wins and three draws from their games. They have all-but guaranteed a top 24 spot but have work to do in order to secure a place in the top eight and avoid a two-legged play-off.

Rangers are one place and one point behind United, with Spurs level on points with the Scottish club a place below them on goal difference. Ahead of the game, there have been more transfer rumblings surrounding Old Trafford as we round up the latest news and rumours below.

United bid for Osimhen ‘rejected

Over the weekend, Turkish media reported United are eyeing a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray. Goals have been an issue for the club this term with none of their forwards hitting top form. Winger Amad is the top-scorer with six goals. Three of those came in the 3-1 win over Southampton last week.

Journalist Kagan Dursun told Haber Sarı Kırmız that United had made an offer of £59m to sign Osimhen permanently but saw that bid knocked back. The Red Devils aren’t the only Premier League club interested after Football Insider reported that Arsenal had already made contact over a possible move. Osimhen – who has scored 128 goals at senior level – is on a season-long loan at Galatasaray but that can be cancelled with the Nigerian international able to move to another club. He netted for the Turkish club on Friday night as they came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Hatayspor.

Romano pours cold water on Tyrell Malacia’s Serie A links

Defender Tyrell Malacia is expected to leave Old Trafford this month but he will not be heading to Serie A side Como. In an update on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said that the Italian club were instead set to sign Alex Valle from Celtic.

He said: “Manchester United are expected to do something also because my expectation is also for Tyrell Malacia to leave. We had the reports about Malacia going to Como, completely fake. Como are going to sign Alex Valle from Celtic, breaking the loan from Barcelona. So Como have different targets, but Malacia can still leave.”

Malacia, who is a Netherlands international with nine caps under his belt, joined the Red Devils back in 2022 and has since made 44 appearances in all competitions, five of which have come in this campaign. He moved to England after playing 137 games for Feyenoord. After joining United, he said: “It’s an incredible feeling to have joined Manchester United. “Whilst I know that I am still young and will continue to develop, I can promise the United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt. I’ll always be thankful to Feyenoord for all they have given to me and my family. None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for them. Now I’m ready to focus on the future with United, and help my new club achieve success.”
