Jhon Duran transfer: West Ham table mammoth new bid

West Ham have made a £57million offer to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa, according to David Ornstein.
However, the journalist reported via The Athletic on 20 January that the offer, which includes potential add-ons, is set to be rejected by the Villans.
The Birmingham-based club have no intention to sell the striker, having recently tied him down to a deal until 2030, but there is still “strong interest” from elsewhere.
Graham Potter to suffer Jhon Duran blow at West Ham
West Ham’s interest in Duran is no secret. They had offered £30m plus Lewis Oxford for the Colombia international in the summer, but was rejected by Villa.
With Graham Potter determined to add a new centre-forward to his ranks in Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug’s long-term absences, it appears the Irons have made another effort to sign the 21-year-old.
No doubt, £57m is a significant amount of money for someone as young as Duran, but it might not be enough to persuade Villa to sanction an exit.
However, the fact that West Ham have made such an offer at this stage in the season suggests they might have received encouragement from either Villa or Duran that a transfer could be possible.
It, therefore, remains to be seen if the East London outfit will return with an improved offer if Villa reject their initial one as Ornstein reported.
With the winter transfer window entering its final stretch, the Hammers are quickly running out of time to bolster their ranks for the second half of the season.
