Not for sale: Nottingham Forest sends clear message to European giants after first bid rejected
Report: Nottingham Forest now make U-turn on defender and insist he won’t leave this month
Nottingham Forest are going to be making some big calls on players this month with both incoming and outgoing deals set to happen.
The Reds are flying high in the Premier League right now. Nuno Espirito Santo has led the team to third place and with that in mind, wholesale changes aren’t required this month.
If anything there could be more outgoings than incoming deals at Forest in January. Taiwo Awoniyi has been linked with West Ham and he’s the latest current player to be linked with a move away from the City Ground.
Now, the club have made a decision on Harry Toffolo it would seem and something tells us it might prove to be a very popular one made by Forest.
Nottingham Forest make decision on Harry Toffolo
According to The Telegraph, Toffolo won’t be going anywhere this month with Forest now choosing to keep the defender around the club despite his game time being restricted.
It was claimed before the window opened that Forest might look to let Toffolo leave the club. He’s third choice at left-back right now and more often than not he doesn’t make the matchday squad.
Now, however, the club has no plans to let a respected member of the dressing room leave this month and Toffolo will remain part of Espirito Santo’s thinking for the remainder of the campaign.
The 29-year-old signed for Forest in 2022 after the Reds won promotion, joining from beaten play-off finalists Huddersfield in a deal worth £2.5 million.
Toffolo has made 54 appearances for the Reds, scoring once in a game against Wolves at Molineux last season and always gives his all whenever he’s called upon.
Toffolo decision highlights team spirit at Forest
At his age, Toffolo could be forgiven for pushing to leave in order to play regular football as he approaches his thirties.
Instead, he’s happy to stick around and ultimately it shows that Forest have a brilliant team spirit right now and nobody out of the team is sulking around the training ground.
Toffolo has done some brilliant work at Forest. As a player he’s done a job but away from those responsibilities he’s regularly fulfilling community requirements and is the club’s mental health ambassador.
It’s great that Toffolo is sticking around. He seems like a brilliant bloke and if injuries do strike you can bet that he will be ready to step into the breach.
