Here we go: Nottingham forest trigger £17m release clause ..welcome to Forest
Nottingham Forest have made attempts to sign another wide option in January, but their targets have failed to materialise thus far.
Nuno Espirito Santo looked to have found the perfect option when Forest were linked with Romain Esse but their approach was short-lived as Esse is keen to join Crystal Palace.
Another option that seemed to tick a lot of boxes for the Forest squad was the pursuit of Raul Moro. Forest were interested in Moro as the January window approached but were once again left disappointed as Ajax agreed personal terms with Moro.
Espirito Santo will rightfully be showing caution with any incoming, given Forest’s remarkable Premier League position so far. Still, one report suggests that Evangelos Marinakis has found another option out wide for the Forest manager, one with plenty of admirers.
Nottingham Forest face battle to secure Yeremay Hernandez
According to La Opinion de A Coruna (via Sport Witness), Forest are one of seven Premier League sides chasing the signature of Deportivo La Coruna winger, Yeremay Hernandez.
The report states that: “Deportivo’s director of football Fernando Soriano has admitted publicly that there are scouts regularly accredited at Riazor to watch the player.”
Hernandez has scored seven goals in Spain’s second division this season, with his accumulation of 77 appearances for his boyhood club at just 22 years old showing an impressive level of experience.
In the report, it states that Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United have all been looking at Hernandez with interest, with the player’s £17m release clause common knowledge for the clubs.
The competition will make a deal more complicated for Forest but Hernandez’s stats this season suggest that he may be worth the extra effort.
Yeremay Hernandez offers well-rounded statistics to Forest
Deportivo are struggling in 17th in the Spanish Second Divison, making Hernandez’s performances this season even more impressive.
Hernandez’s seven goals and three assists mean that he has contributed more goals than anyone else in the team, with his 1.40 chances created per 90 minutes in the league proving crucial.
He has also completed 4.21 successful dribbles per match this season, more than Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi combined have managed for Forest.
Most impressively for Espirito Santo, though, is his competitive stats in the defensive areas. Hernandez wins 77.8% of his tackles per match, contributing to him winning 8.22 duels per game for Deportivo.
With stats like these, the £17m release clause must seem incredibly tempting for Marinakis and Espirito Santo, meaning Hernandez could be seen lining up at the City Ground in the near future.
