Better than Solanke: Tottenham hits jackpot with £7m player

Striker Tottenham sold for £7m claims he’s actually a better player than Dominic Solanke

Tottenham have a knack of selling players who go on to improve or kick on.

Luka Modric became a Ballon d’Or winner after leaving Spurs, while Gareth Bale won countless Champions League trophies.

Over the summer, Tottenham decided to sell Troy Parrott to AZ Alkmaar for £7m.

Parrott was highly rated at Spurs as a young player, but he never quite broke through at Tottenham.

Since joining AZ Alkmaar, Parrott has been in great form, and speaking to ESPN, the striker has claimed that he’s actually a better player than Dominic Solanke.

Troy Parrott makes Dominic Solanke claim

Parrott was asked to compare himself to a number of top strikers, and it’s fair to say that the Irishman backs his own ability.

Indeed, Parrott claimed that he was better than a number of top-level forwards, including Tottenham’s current first-choice striker, Dominic Solanke.

Parrott also claimed he was better than a few other famous number nines.

Parrott was seen as the best finisher at Spurs during his time at the club, and he’s now showing that at the senior level in the Eredivisie.

Of course, the Eredivisie is a different kettle of fish when you compare it to the Premier League, but goals are goals at the end of the day.

Ange Postecoglou has been impressed by Parrott this season, and it may not be long before Premier League clubs are once again looking at this young man.

Who knows? Maybe one day Parrott could be back at Tottenham. After all, Spurs have re-signed the likes of Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Teddy Sheringham over the years, so they’re not afraid to revisit old strikers.
