Novak Djokovic and Cristiano Ronaldo have shared a mutual admiration for each other. The Portuguese soccer player has attended a few of Djokovic’s matches, including his 2017 Madrid Open semifinal against Rafael Nadal.
In an episode of Nick Kyrgios’ Good Trouble podcast in May this year, Djokovic named Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the athletes he identified with (as quoted by vnexpress):
“I identify with Tom Brady as well. And Serena is first of all, the incredible mind of a champion, just incredible hunger for success, for improvement. Cristiano Ronaldo is also like that,” Djokovic said (via vnexpress.net).
Djokovic and Ronaldo had previously teamed up for a training session in 2019. In a clip circulating at the time, the duo can be seen inside a gym with a rope tied at a height between two equipment.
Ronaldo, known for his headers with his exceptional high-jump abilities, was seen instructing the Serb on how to run and touch the rope with his head. Djokovic did not make it at first but with a little push from Ronaldo, the duo hit the rope together with their heads at the end of the clip.
