Tottenham leading race to sign £11.7m target

Crystal Palace now left concerned as Tottenham join race to sign £11.7m target
Crystal Palace are targeting reinforcements in January after a terrible start to the 2024/25 campaign.
Oliver Glasner has overseen just one win in 11 Premier League outings so far this season – leaving us 18th at the time of writing – while goalscoring is a real issue in particular.
Only Southampton – who are bottom – have netted fewer than our tally of eight Premier League goals.
Midfield is a particularly concerning area for Crystal Palace – who were left relying on Justin Devenny to make his Premier League debut last week amid a number of absentees in that department, with Jefferson Lerma, Adam Wharton, Eberechi Eze and Will Hughes all missing.
It was said that Crystal Palace are keen to sign Habib Keita from Clermont in January to provide added depth in this area.
Now – however – Dougie Freedman has identified another central midfield target in Andy Diouf, with the Glaswegian keen to not put all of his eggs into one basket.
Crystal Palace want Andy Diouf from RC Lens
A story from Give Me Sport now states that Crystal Palace want to sign the RC Lens No.18 in January.
Diouf – who RC Lens signed from FC Basel in a €14m (£11.7m) deal back in July 2023 – is also the subject of interest from Tottenham and West Ham, with all three London sides considering a bid for the Frenchman this winter.
In fact, Give Me Sport specifically state that Crystal Palace now feel concerned after Spurs joined the race to sign the 21-year-old, given their greater financial resources and ability to offer European football.
Familiar face awaits Andy Diouf at Crystal Palace
Should Freedman prove successful in his bid to sign Diouf this January, the man born in Neuilly-sur-Seine should have no problem settling in at Selhurst Park, thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The French duo spent most of the summer together playing for France at the Olympic Games, where their efforts helped Thierry Henry’s side secure the silver medal.
Mateta has previously been called the funniest at Crystal Palace by Matheus Franca, so if he and Diouf do become reacquainted in SE25, the chemistry should be there immediately given their experience at the Olympic Games.
