Exclusive: Tottenham have made one of the ‘top three’ signings in the entire Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur brought four players through the door in what turned out to be an eventful summer transfer window for them.

Ange Postecoglou was keen to fine-tune his squad after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season and offloaded four players permanently, while several others departed on free transfers or loan.

Dominic Solanke Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert joined the club this summer, while Spurs also agreed a deal to for South Korean youngster Min-hyeok Yang to join the club in January 2025.

Solanke was their most expensive purchase, joining the club for a £65m fee after scoring 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season.

And Paul Merson believes the 26-year-old will emerge as one of the signings of the season.

Paul Merson tips Dominic Solanke to bang in the goals at Tottenham

Solanke made his Tottenham debut in the 1-1 draw against Leicester City but failed to get his name on the scoresheet despite getting a handful of decent chances.

While Merson acknowledged the fact that Solanke wasn’t at his best in front of goal against the Foxes, he admitted that the English striker got himself into good positions, which is a good sign.

However, the Arsenal icon still named him as one of his three best Premier League signings this summer.

“I think he is an outstanding signing for Tottenham. I think he takes them to the next level, Tottenham,” Merson said on X.

“I think he scores a lot of goals. I know he missed a few against Leicester, kept on getting into positions and you have got to be there to miss them.”

Chelsea’s Pedro Neto and West Ham United’s Max Kilman completed the trio for Merson, although he didn’t rank his best Premier League signings in order.

Solanke should be a success at Tottenham

Ally McCoist feels Solanke will bang in the goals at Tottenham, with the striker expected to lead the line after his return from injury.

Only Erling Haaland (27), Cole Palmer (22) and Alexander Isak (21) scored more Premier League goals last season than the 26-year-old.

Solanke is now surrounded by better teammates and Postecoglou’s free-flowing brand of attacking football would allow him to get into dangerous positions in the box as was the case in his debut.

Theo Walcott feels Solanke can win the Premier League Golden Boot this season, which is yet another indication that his signing has been well-received by fans and pundits alike.

However, the towering striker will have to wait until after the international break to feature again for his new club, having picked up an ankle injury earlier this month.
