Exclusive: EPL team work on fresh bid 25-yr-old Celtic player
Burnley are lining up a move for Celtic winger Mikey Johnston before the close of the transfer window,
Johnston, 25, is back at Celtic after spending the second half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion.
The Republic of Ireland international impressed during his time in England, scoring seven goals in 20 games to help the Baggies reach the play-offs.
Burnley are in the market for a new winger having sold Wilson Odobert to Tottenham and Johnston figures highly on their wanted list.
The skilful attacker is likely to remain down the pecking order at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers this season and the Clarets are hoping to lure him to Turf Moor.

Player would be keen to join Celtic after ‘extensive talks’ held
Celtic are almost prepared to let Matt O’Riley leave the club to join Brighton.
The Danish midfielder is expected to secure his move away from Celtic Park in the next 72 hours.
The Hoops need to add new midfielders to replace him, but Brendan Rodgers has already made it clear that it would be hard to find a like-for-like replacement.
According to a report from The Express, Celtic are keen to sign Alvyn Sanches, and the left-footed midfielder is keen to move to Parkhead.
As of now, the Bhoys are yet to make a formal bid for Sanches but “extensive talks” have been held in recent weeks. The saga could continue until it reaches the deadline day.
Celtic have been tracking the 21-year-old attacking midfielder for the past 18 months. He has a contract at Lausanne-Sport until 2026.
Initially, the Swiss side demanded a fee of around £4.25 million, but they have dropped their asking price to just £3 million, which should be within Celtic’s affordable range. Even agreeing personal terms will not a problem at all.
Despite the player’s desire to try himself at a bigger club, Lausanne-Sport are under no pressure to sell him, and they want to keep the talented attacker at the club for at least another 12 months.
The Express claims that “a breakthrough looked to be in the works”, as Celtic could be prepared to make a formal move to sign Sanches.
He is close to making a century of appearances for the senior side, and Celtic scouts are pretty impressed with what they have seen. The Hoops are absolutely convinced that Sanches will become a top player for the Glasgow club should he make the move.
Rodgers, however, could use him in the attacking role similar to what Cole Palmer does for Chelsea. It seems Celtic have done their homework, and it’s up to the club now to make an attractive bid and tempt the Swiss club to sell the player.
