Sad News: Danilo leaves Nottingham Forest a record high sale
Man Utd target has sent ‘two clear messages’ to Ten Hag as price becomes known
Nottingham Forest star Danilo
Nottingham Forest ace Danilo has sent a couple of messages to Erik ten Hag amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The Brazilian footballer, who moved to England just last year, quickly established himself as a key player in Forest’s team and played a significant role in keeping them in the Premier League last season.
His impressive performances have reportedly caught the attention of United and AC Milan, with both teams keen on padding out their respective midfields this summer. It’s understood the 23-year-old is available for £34million – a figure the Red Devils are prepared to pay.
Speaking to The Athletic, Danilo said: “What I learned from all the managers was the value of remaining grounded – particularly from Abel Ferreira (who is still head coach of Palmeiras). He gave me my opportunity. He told us to have cold heads but always warm hearts. He told us to block out the noise and just focus on playing.”
Danilo further demonstrated his winning mentality by insisting he wants to help Forest emulate the success of Brighton and Aston Villa, who have established themselves as top half teams in the past couple of years.
Back in May, Ten Hag listed what he requires from new signings at the club, saying: “I think every manager wants players with winning attitudes and a great mentality, big personalities to perform under stress. In this club it’s extremely important to perform under stress.”
The United boss’ hunt for grafters seems to be in sync with Danilo’s vibe, as a move might be in the mix if talks with PSG over Manuel Ugarte hit a snag. Though they’ve hashed out personal terms with the Uruguayan wonder, the Red Devils are standing firm on their £42.5m cap, while PSG are playing hardball for £51m.
Danilo is said to be one of several alternatives on United’s shortlist with the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Burnley’s Sander Berge and Youssouf Fofana of AS Monaco also being linked.
