Transfer Hijack: West Ham United agree personal terms with player

West Ham United agree personal terms with Jota Silva, Jose Mourinho wants to hijack deal for Fenerbahce

West Ham United have agreed personal terms with Jota Silva about a move to the London Stadium, according to Fanatik.

Writing on their website (27 June), the Turkish news outlet report that the Portugal international is wanted by Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce [A Bola, 16 June], but they have run into problems with the deal because the player already has an agreement with the Hammers.

However, West Ham don’t want to pay his £17.1million release clause [Sebastiao Sousa Pinto, 27 May] and are looking at alternative options which would allow Mourinho’s side to move back into contention for his signature.

West Ham United close in on new Jota Silva transfer

After sealing the transfer of Luis Guilherme earlier in the summer window, Julen Lopetegui is still keen to bolster the attacking options in his squad.

There are major concerns around the future of Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, while there is also big interest in Jarrod Bowen and the situation with Lucas Paqueta’s betting charges leave his status up in their too.

So new additions are definitely needed, and Jota Silva is someone who could add some real quality to the side for a fair price.

After hitting 15 goals and registering seven assists in the 2023/24 campaign, Silva would provide great competition in the attacking areas and could really help Lopetegui have more depth and better options over the course of the season.

But a deal would need to be struck quickly to beat competition, and with Mourinho in the picture it may only take one conversation to grab his attentions away from east London.
