The conversations surrounding Celtic’s transfer business seem to be ramping up a bit over the last few days.
With rumours that the club are looking to add youngsters, Ajay Matthews and Edmund Baidoo doing the rounds, the Celtic fans will be keen to see some names being touted that could make an impact on the first team.
With a number of positions needing to be addressed at the club, Brendan Rodgers will hopefully have some players identified and have work going on in the background to strengthen the team.
One such player that has been the talk of the town is Norwich City striker, Adam Idah. The Republic of Ireland international is now back in the Championship with Norwich City and Chris Sutton says he would be surprised if Celtic don’t make a move.
Norwich City will ‘want’ to keep Idah
We discussed how The Canaries manager, Johaness Hoff Thorup plans to take a look at Idah before making a decision on the striker.
But Sutton reckons he knows what his old club will decide.
Sutton said [Sky Sports Scotland], “That centre forward position, Adam Idah came in, didn’t he in January and not everybody was sure about him, where they?
“He actually performed really, really well. So I wonder and I’d be surprised if Celtic weren’t trying to get a deal over the line with Norwich City.
“But the way he performed for Celtic I can imagine Norwich City with their new manager, he’ll want to keep him.
“But they certainly need strengthening in that centre-forward position.”
With Norwich said to want £5m for Idah, that seems like a decent fee for a player who has proved he can handle wearing the Celtic jersey.
There is no doubt that Idah can do a job for Celtic on the domestic front. The only question, I would say, remains is does Rodgers think he can make an impact in the Champions League?
The Celtic manager is adamant that he wants to improve the Hoops’ standing amongst Europe’s elite and getting the correct personnel to do that is crucial.
