Steelers Set to Make Another Splash Signing?

The Pittsburgh Steelers appear ready to strike again.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded Diontae Johnson and Kenny Pickett, signed Russell Wilson, traded for Justin Fields and jacked up their defense with the signings of Patrick Queen and DeShon Elliott.

Free agency has been promising for this team, but it doesn’t appear they’re done just yet.

The Steelers are set to bring in former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams for a free agency visit, and like every other move that has been on the table for them this offseason, you can’t rule out something happening. General manager Omar Khan has been more aggressive than possibly any other GM in team history, and it’s hard to believe he’s finished now.

Williams, 29, would bring an outside presence to the Steelers that immediately replaces Johnson. Despite coming off a torn ACL, the former first-round pick has two 1,000-yard seasons under his belt and 31 career touchdowns.

Pittsburgh has already signed Van Jefferson to the team, leaving their expected depth chart to include Jefferson, George Pickens, Calvin Austin, and – well, that’s it – for now.

The Steelers need another receiver, and they likely won’t leave it up for chance in the NFL Draft. They still have roughly $10.6 million in salary cap space, and if their pursuit of Tyler Boyd has failed, or isn’t looking promising enough, Williams becomes a name to watch, and seemingly feels like their next signing.

Look for more splash. And if Williams believes the Steelers are putting themselves in position to compete – especially over his other visits of the Carolina Panthers and New York Jets – look for a signing.

Steelers Sign Five Players to Future Deals

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue adding to their roster.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have inked five more players to reserve/future deals as they look to set their roster for next season. This comes in addition to the 17 players the team initially signed this offseason.

The team announced they had signed outside linebacker David Perales, linebacker Tyler Murray, cornerback Josiah Scott, defensive back Kalon Barnes and defensive back Thomas Graham.

Perales, Murray, Scott and Barnes all spent time on the Steelers practice squad during different parts of the season. Scott was eventually signed by the Philadephia Eagles, where he played four games. He previously spent the 2021 and 2022 seasons with Philadelphia, playing in 29 games, including four starts.

Perales spent last summer with the Steelers before signing to their initial practice squad. He was waived at times throughout the year, but ended up back in Pittsburgh in time for their playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.

Murray spent a short time on the Steelers practice squad in November. He played college football at Memphis, where he recorded 67 tackles, six tackles for a loss, two interceptions, three quarterback hurries and two passes defended in 2022 while starting 13 games.

Graham was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the sixth-round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played four games for the Bears, recording 13 tackles and four passes defended.
