Under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur is presently on a high and appears to have a very promising future.

Spurs’ success can be attributed in large part to Guglielmo Vicario, who has performed exceptionally well since joining N17.

Vicario was reportedly paid £17 million by Tottenham to acquire him from the Italian team Empoli in the summer, and he has since excelled at the club.

Hugo Lloris was expertly replaced by the 27-year-old in goal, which was no small accomplishment given how excellent the Frenchman was at N17.

Lloris stated throughout the summer that he wanted to leave Tottenham, but by the time the transfer window closed, he couldn’t come to an agreement with another team.

Despite remaining at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the 37-year-old—who was reputedly paid £100,000 per week at Spurs—did not participate in any more games for the team.

In January, Lloris officially departed Tottenham to complete his transfer to Los Angeles FC. But Garth Crooks says he ought to have left a long time ago.

Former Spurs player Crooks mentioned Vicario in his Premier League Team of the Week and made a statement regarding Lloris.

He posted on BBC Sport, “I’ve said on many an occasion that getting rid of keeper Hugo Lloris was the best thing they did.” And years ago is when it ought to have happened.

“The Spurs keeper has saved the team several points since Vicario arrived, which is exactly what a top-tier keeper should be doing.”

Hugo Lloris will always be remembered as a Tottenham legend – opinion

It’s true that Lloris’ final campaign at Tottenham wasn’t the best. In 25 Premier League appearances, he gave up 39 goals and committed several errors. He was unlucky in terms of injuries as well.

Nevertheless, Lloris captained the team and was a premier goalie for the great majority of his tenure at Spurs. And that’s even before we talk about his incredible performances for France in the 2018 World Cup.

Although the way things ended is unfortunate, Lloris will always be regarded as one of the best goalkeepers to have played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and White Hart Lane.

Of course, Vicario is deserving of all the accolades he has received for his play since joining the Spurs; nobody ever said that Lloris should return to the team. I hope he becomes the next great goalkeeper for the N17.
