Tottenham: Long-term Micky van de Ven injury concern emerges after what he did v Aston Villa

Bryan King, a former Tottenham employee, is concerned that Micky van de Ven may have strained his hamstring during the match against Aston Villa.
On Sunday, March 10, at Villa Park, Ange Postecoglou’s team defeated Unai Emery’s team 4-0 to earn a crucial three points.
James Maddison, Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson, and Timo Werner all scored goals to guarantee that Spurs seized control of the race for UEFA Champions League qualifying.
Tottenham still has a game in hand over their West Midlands opponents, but they are currently two points behind Villa and the Premier League top four.
The visiting squad will have left with a sense of frustration despite the otherwise beautiful afternoon, as van van Ven was taken out with an injury early in the second half, leaving King fearing the worst.
“It was concerning to see van de Ven forced off; the way he was laying there, it looked like he had hurt his hamstring again,” King remarked in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News.
“I’m hoping he doesn’t have the same issue he did previously. He was holding his hand around his hamstring region, between his hip and knee.
It would not be a good time for the injury, and Tottenham would suffer a great loss if he were to go out at this point in the campaign.
Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou will need Micky van de Ven if they want to qualify for the UEFA Champions League
Even if Postecoglou’s troops prevailed in the fight at Villa Park, they can lose the war if van de Ven sustains a serious injury.
Spurs have placed themselves in a favorable situation, but they still need to take advantage of it. The season will still have many twists and turns before it ends.
Van de Ven’s loss might make that exceedingly challenging. The Dutchman demonstrated his value to Spurs during the first half with several outstanding recovery challenges in which he kept up with Ollie Watkins’ pace.
Between now and May, Villa and Spurs appear to be fighting it out for a spot in the Champions League, and van van Ven will be required.
The 22-year-old will be hoping that his injury does not keep him out of action for too long after suffering a major one earlier in the season.
