“There will always be problems” – Agent insists Tottenham player has to be picked, other factors not big enough

Radu Drăgușin is waiting to make his first start for Tottenham Hotspur since joining them from Genoa in the winter market.

The Romania international has clocked in eight minutes from three games so far for Spurs and was left on the bench in their last two league matches. There are concerns in his country over his selection for the Euros in the summer.

Fanatik interviewed agent Victor Becali and asked if the Tottenham defender risks missing out on the European championship.

When responding to that, Becali insisted that Romania manager Edward Iordănescu has to pick the 22-year-old, due to a lack of quality options.

“There have always been and will always be problems, but the important thing is that we are there, that we have qualified,” he said

“Of course, now the selector’s problems… All selectors, when they arrive and when they settle in you know what they say… ‘With me, players who don’t play don’t come to the squad!’

“But all the managers have had problems since we don’t have such a large pool of valuable players. For example, this boy, Dragușin… If he doesn’t play or plays less, because it’s normal after all, he went to a new team, he went to He needs time to establish himself as a starter for a newly founded squad in another league. In my view, it is impossible to not select him for the national team.

It should be mentioned that Florin Manea represents the Tottenham player; Becali does not manage him. The former was merely offering his opinion on which players the manager of the national team may bring up.

Manea said last week that he doesn’t worry about his client’s Tottenham predicament and that he would “play enough” games to be prepared for the Euros.

On Saturday, Drăgușin will be aiming to play when Spurs take on Crystal Palace.
