Tottenham tipped to sign explosive winger who wowed Postecoglou but still £10-15m short over valuation
Tottenham’s reasoning for making a summer mover for Wolves winger Pedro Neto has been explained, although the two clubs are still some way apart over a potential fee.
Even though Wolves would hate to lose their best offensive player, the Portugal international may be on the move at the conclusion of the season. The thrilling attacker has been strongly linked to Tottenham, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
Since moving to Molineux in 2019, Neto has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top wide players.
The 23-year-old also seems to have elevated his game throughout the current season, despite a few injury concerns.
Neto has made three goals and an amazing eleven assists in 19 games across all competitions. Wolves are now ranked 11th in the standings, one spot ahead of Sheffield United on Sunday.
Premier League opponents are reportedly very interested in Tottenham due to his exceptional play, and transfer expert Ben Jacobs explains where Tottenham is in the hierarchy of suitors.
Having also been linked with Neto in the past, Jacobs explained why Ange Postecoglou could yet revive the club’s interest in the attacker.
He said to GiveMeSport, “There might be room in that Neto position if they utilize Son or Richarlison to lead the line and Timo Werner stays permanently, even though they haven’t officially replaced Harry Kane.
“Thus, I believe that Tottenham will probably be present and will reignite that interest.”
But there’s still a gap between what Wolves want and what clubs are ready to pay for Neto, Jacobs continues.
According to earlier reports, the Molineux team is requesting about £60 million for the player, whose current deal expires in June 2027.
“I think there’s a £10m to £15m gulf between how suitors value Neto compared to the number Wolves want now,” Jacobs continued, though.
Neto wowed in Wolves win at Tottenham
Postecoglou got a first-hand look at Neto’s qualities recently in Wolves’ 2-1 win in north London, with the winger devasting on the break in a fine win for Gary O’Neil’s men.
His pace and direct running were a problem from Tottenham defenders throughout but he has also something Better final product, although Brennan Johnson and current loanee Timo Werner don’t.
It’s also no secret that Spurs are eager to recruit a player to replace Harry Kane, particularly now that Richarlison has recently bounced back from a slump, but acquiring someone with Neto’s kind of stature might give the north London team another offensive option.
Daniel Levy, who has a fondness for players he may eventually be able to flip for a substantial profit, finds that fact that he is still only 23 to be extremely valuable.
Next weekend, Tottenham will return to Premier League play when they host Crystal Palace, a rival team from London.
