Travis Kelce matches girlfriend Taylor Swift’s $100,000 donation to injured victims of Super Bowl parade shooting
Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has donated $100,000 to two injured victims of a fatal mass shooting during his team’s SuperBowl victory parade.
The money, just under £80,000, has been given to two sisters who were injured during the horrifying scenes in Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday.
The tight end’s representatives confirmed to NBC’s Today that the sister received two $50,000 (£40,000) donations from Kelce’s Eighty-Seven and Running organization. The damaged sisters are to receive financial support from the money.
It happens after his fiancée Taylor Swift gave the family of a lady slain in the mass shooting $100,000.
The international celebrity sent her sympathies to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 44, who lost her life last Sunday during the triumph parade at Union Station after the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl.
22 people were injured in the attack in Kansas City, and two minors have now been accused.
The family of victim Ms Lopez-Galvan have set up a GoFundMe page in memory of the mother-of-two and received a personal message from Swift.
The singer wrote: “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift.”
Swift made two separate donations of $50,000 each on Friday for Ms Lopez-Galvan’s family who have raised almost $350,000 so far (£278,000) so far, surpassing their initial target of 75,000 dollars (£59,565).
GoFundMe confirmed to the PA news agency the donations were made by Swift.
The family called the shooting a “unthinkable tragedy” and referred to Ms. Lopez-Galvan as a “amazing mother”.
The family posted on the GoFundMe page, “This fund has been set up to benefit the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan.”
“Lisa was slain senselessly while enjoying the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade. Her husband of 22 years and her two children survive her.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to a great number of people. As we mourn her passing, we kindly ask that you keep her family in your prayers.
“Her family will receive much-needed financial support from this fund as they deal with this unimaginable tragedy.”y.”
Authorities in Kansas City said the mass shooting that unfolded amid people at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration appeared to stem from a dispute between several people.
Police Chief Stacey Graves said 22 people injured in the shooting ranged between the ages of eight and 47 years old, and half were under the age of 16.
