‘He sets very high standards’: Ange Postecoglou says £15.8m Tottenham player is demanding
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has given his verdict on Rodrigo Bentancur.
Postecoglou has shared what makes Bentancur a special and very important player for Spurs.
So, what has Ange Postecoglou said about Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur? Let’s take a look.
Ange Postecoglou praises Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur
Well, Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has been speaking about Rodrigo Bentancur.
Postecoglou has been hugely impressed with Bentancur and has noted that the midfielder is very demanding and sets high standards.
The 26-year-old Uruguay international midfielder is fit and available now after a spell on the sidelines.
Bentancur has made six starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season.
The midfielder has scored one goal in those games. He has also played twice in the FA Cup for the North London club this campaign
Postecoglou told Football.London when asked if he has had to manage Bentancur’s expectations on his injury return: “No, I haven’t had to and I wouldn’t. It would be like someone trying to manage my expectations and I just don’t think that is my role. He sets very high standards and it is not just the absence.
“When he returned, I thought he played a great game against Villa, but he was out for another 15 or 20 minutes after taking a knock. Even with his absence, it has been disturbing, but Rodri has made me quite pleased.
“Once more, I suppose people view it through the lens of players who should be involved and impactful all the time, but our goal here is to assemble a group.
“Whatever Rodri does this year—and he’s already contributed—I have no doubt that he’s laying a solid basis for us for the following year. With the players we now have in that midfield configuration, it will be fascinating to watch how they develop.
My View: Rodrigo Bentancur will play his role in Tottenham’s top-four quest
In my opinion, Rodrigo Bentancur will play a big role for Tottenham Hotspur in the coming weeks and months.
Spurs are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table and could even challenge for the title.
Even though Bentancur is just recovering from an injury, I think Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou will utilize the £15.8 million (Sky Sports) player to the fullest extent possible.
The 26-year-old is among Tottenham’s greatest players, after all. When he is available and fit, he is among the first names on the Spurs roster.
Postecoglou will undoubtedly have to oversee Bentancur’s workload, but I believe the former Celtic manager—who has been connected to Liverpool—will do it admirably.
