Ange Postecoglou says 23-year-old Spurs player has been great in training
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has spoken highly of Ryan Sessegnon following his return to training this week.
The Spurs manager has encouraged the 23-year-old to keep up his fine effort, saying that he has “done well in training” in an interview with football.london.
Sadly, Sessegnon has had to deal with yet another challenging season of injuries at Tottenham.
The 23-year-old has only made one appearance for Spurs this season, playing seven minutes during the team’s victory over Burnley in the FA Cup third round in January.
After recovering from a hamstring injury, Sessegnon will be eager to play soon so that Postecoglou can see exactly what he is capable of.
Speaking before of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Premier League match on Saturday, the Tottenham manager is happy with the player’s progress thus far.
Regarding Sessegnon, Postecoglou stated, “The first thing is that he’s back training.” He must now compile a body of work during training, after which we will evaluate it.
He has only been with us for this week. As I previously stated, the goal with Sess is to build a body of work that will both give him and us confidence that his body will function well.
“I hope that keeps up, because he’s trained well so far this week and has completed all tasks assigned to him.”
Ryan Sessegnon back in Tottenham training and working hard
All of us hope that Sessegnon can finally move past his injury and fitness concerns and resume his career.
The “fantastic” full-back, one of the most promising young players in the English game, has been a member of Tottenham since 2019. He came from Fulham.
Nevertheless, despite spending almost five years at Tottenham, Sessegnon has only played in 57 competitive games for the team.
His Spurs contract expires in the summer of 2025, so perhaps he can turn things around and return to peak form to offer Postecoglou something to think about.
