TOO GOOD TO RESIST: Spurs considering offer for ‘amazing’ player; Verbal agreement reached
a summary of the most recent rumors surrounding transfers in January, including news about West Ham, Spurs, and Liverpool
As the January transfer window draws to a close, some deals appear destined to be shelved until the summer, while others are still in the thick of negotiations. Halfway through the season, some transfers are proving more difficult than others as Premier League clubs rush to bolster their squads for their individual missions.
How many transfers will be completed and approved prior to the winter deadline? Let’s dive into some of the most recent rumors from this week as there are a lot to consider.
Loan offer from West Ham “makes no sense.”
According to reports, this month, West Ham attempted to bring Emile Smith Rowe on loan to the London Stadium. Fabrizio Romano, however, believes this’makes no sense’ for Mikel Arteta’s team, who are trying to make up some cash through player sales.
This week, the transfer expert appeared on the Caught Offside YouTube channel and stated that while it’makes no sense’ for Arsenal to allow Smith Rowe to leave on loan, a January departure is still feasible if they receive a’significant proposal or permanent transfer’ for the midfield player.
“West Ham tried to make a deal happen on loan for Smith Rowe, not even a buy-option clause included and Arsenal are never going to accept that,” Romano stated.
The 3AM Verdict: Arsenal needs to add much-needed funds to their own transfer funds, but they are in a position where they cannot afford to turn down offers for their fringe players. Therefore, the deal must be permanent. Smith Rowe, who is 23 years old, is still in his prime years even though he has struggled to get consistent playing time over the past two seasons. With a current Transfermarkt value of €25 million (£21 million), West Ham could be able to sign him for a reasonable fee. Pablo Fornals’ contract expires this summer, and the Irons will gain access to a new midfield player who is eager to establish himself, in addition to Lucas Paquetá’s injury layoff.
Liverpool needs to spend an additional £11 million on a midfield player.
Teun Klosters has drawn interest from Liverpool in their pursuit of a new defensive midfield player. The Atlanta star is getting some attention this transfer window, but the team isn’t going to give up easily. The Reds are ‘preparing to launch’ a £40 million bid for Koopmeiners, but the club is reportedly looking for somewhere in the neighborhood of €60–65 million (£51–56 million), according to TuttoAtalanta.
If Liverpool hopes to complete a deal for the 25-year-old during this transfer window, they will have to increase their offer; if not, negotiations will move into the summer.
The 3AM Verdict: Although Koopters would be a significant addition to Liverpool, his asking price might be too high this month, particularly if a lower price becomes available at the end of the campaign. It appears that the Italian team is unwilling to let the 25-year-old go midway through the season, so negotiations might be simpler once the summer transfer window opens.
Although the Reds have Wataru Endō, they are still looking for a No. 6 player, ideally one who can seriously close the gap left by Fabinho. Juergen Klopp’s team will undoubtedly benefit from Koopmeiners’ versatility as he can play as a No. 10 and more centrally as well.
Spurs are thinking about the Bayern Munich star.
Following the signings of Eric Dier and Harry Kane, Bayern Munich is currently in the minority as Tottenham Hotspur takes center stage. Spurs are reportedly one of the three Premier League teams vying to sign Leroy Sané, who is “destined” to leave the team this year because his contract is set to expire in 2025, according to Funchales.
If Ange Postecoglou wants to sign the former Manchester City player, he will face tough competition, but with his departure looking likely soon, who will Sané turn to?
The 3AM Opinion:Having a player such as Sané on staff would be advantageous for any club. He was impressive at City and he has continued his blistering form in Germany but Spurs may need to have a rejig in their attack if they do bring him in. Sané can play on both the left and right wing, which is hugely beneficial, but it could force the exit of some key players.
Dejan Kulusevski and Brendan Johnson will drop in the standings if he plays on the right, but if he plays on the left, Son Heung-min will likely move up to the No. 9 position, making room for Richardson. Though it’s a difficult conundrum to weigh, Sané’s 18 goal contributions in 17 league games make it difficult to resist the urge to sign him.
