‘He will be really disappointed’: Pundit blast Celtic player that want to ‘leave’ the club

John Hartson says Benjamin Siegrist will be ‘really disappointed’ at how his Celtic career has panned out ahead of a possible exit.

The 31-year-old, who has only appeared on the bench once this season, is Celtic’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Joe Hart and Scott Bain.

With Benjamin Siegrist joining Celtic on a high from Dundee United in 2022, enormous expectations were placed on him and his potential contributions.

However, as of right now, he has only appeared in two Celtic jersey appearances.

John Hartson told Go Radio that while he used to be “performing every week,” he now finds it difficult to even get into the matchday squad.

The shot-stopper was said to be leaving this month, but sadly for the player, those negotiations fell through.

Under Brendan Rodgers, he won’t play any minutes for the first team, thus you would think the team would be trying to let him leave before the window closes.

John Hartson believes Benjamin Siegrist will be extremely disappointed when he finally does decide to walk for the exit.

Benjamin Siegrist at Celtic

When summers rolls around, Celtic’s goalkeeping crew might see some major changes.

The present contracts for Hart and Bain expire in the summer of 2026 and for Siegrist in 2026.

There have been whispers of a new goalkeeper arriving, but more than one might show up if any of the top three decide to step up or continue as backup.

It doesn’t seem to be the case right now, despite the belief held by some that Celtic’s January action was merely preventative.

Celtic’s search for a goalkeeper

There may be significant adjustments made to Celtic’s goalkeeping staff come summertime.

Siegrist’s current contract expires in 2026, and Hart and Bain’s expires in the summer.

There have been rumors of a new goalkeeper coming, but more than one might show up if any of the top three decide to step up or stay as backup.

Although some believed that Celtic’s January action was only proactive, that doesn’t appear to be the case at this time.
