‘My type of guy’ – PL manager admits he would like to grab a beer with Postecoglou

Sean Dyche has said that he has been impressed with what he has seen and heard from Ange Postecoglou, admitting that he would love to get to know the Tottenham head coach better.

When Tottenham chose to sign Postecoglou in the summer, it’s safe to say that a lot of people took notice. However, in a few short months, the Australian has gone from being largely unknown to becoming the talk of the media.

That may be attributed to the 58-year-old’s candor and wit during news conferences as well as the fast-paced, attacking kind of football Tottenham is playing.

Although Dyche and Postecoglou have quite different footballing philosophies, they both have a reputation for being straightforward in interviews, and the two coaches appear to be of similar backgrounds.

The Toffees owner said that he would enjoy a beer with the Spurs head coach and that he liked his attitude.

“I don’t know him, to be honest,” he stated during his pre-match press conference, which was streamed on Everton’s official YouTube channel. Since he is someone I don’t know, it would be amazing if I could spend ten minutes with him.

“I think he’s really honest in his thinking, and he believes in the approach he wants to take [with his style], but then, all managers do.

“He recently mentioned that they were playing well but going through a difficult period and not winning. It’s about winning, he said. His goal is to win, not to become well-known for his style of play. Certainly, that mentality has renewed me. That guy seems like the kind I enjoy. We’ll see. Perhaps open a cold one.

After the game, Ange would definitely comply and grab a drink with Dyche. Being a fly on the wall and listening to those two converse about life and football is all I could ask for.
