Aston Villa manager Unai Emery appears to have poured cold water on the idea of AC Milan target leaving the club in January.

Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu, a starter and first reserve, will both be out injured for a considerable amount of time, leaving Fikayo Tomori and the unreliable Simon Kjaer to cover for them for the time being. Milan will desperately need to recruit a center-back next month.

Lenglet is reportedly looking to leave Aston Villa since he isn’t getting much playing time under Unai Emery, according to, who added that he is a target. He’s made five appearances in the Conference League and none in the Premier League.

Tribal Football relayed Emery’s remarks during a news conference on the eve of the Sheffield United match. Among the many subjects covered, Emery was asked about the future of Lenget.

“I’m thrilled that I have him. He gives incredible dedication to every training session. He always has his game together and is a really excellent professional. He was unwell for the remaining matches. In Zrinjski, he was with us,” he remarked.

“Although he was still a little sick, he was better at Brentford. If they felt the same way as he did, other players might not be on the team.

“I believe he will play tomorrow, assuming all goes according to plan. I am hoping to see him and am extremely enthusiastic about the way he will support us in the upcoming games starting tomorrow.

We need players for the obstacles we will encounter this season, so I want to keep him.
