He will play’: Ange Postecoglou confirms he will use ‘long forgotten’ player vs Bayern for first time since April

Tottenham Hotspur take on Bayern Munich in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Spurs have been preparing really well over the last month. They look ready for the start of the new campaign, and Ange Postecoglou would love nothing more than to finish off pre-season with a win.

Tottenham played Bayern just last week, but ended up losing the game 2-1. Gabriel Vidovic and Leon Goretza scored for the German giants.

Postecoglou’s side now have a chance to get one back, and they have received a big boost before the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou says Destiny Udogie will play for Tottenham vs Bayern

Destiny Udogie was one of Tottenham’s most impressive players in the 2023/24 season.

The Italian was actually signed when Antonio Conte was at the club. He was sent back to Udinese on loan in 2022 but returned in the following summer.

Postecoglou saw Udogie in pre-season last year, and the Australian immediately decided that the youngster was his first-choice left-back.

The 21-year-old had a tremendous season for the most part, but unfortunately for him, Udogie suffered a season-ending injury in April.

The Italian, branded as an ‘unbelievable player’ by Guglielmo Vicario (FourFourTwo), missed Euro 2024 as well and hasn’t played a minute in pre-season yet.

That is finally about to change. Posteocglou confirmed in his press conference that Udogie is back and will play a part against Bayern Munich.

He said on Friday, as per Football London: “Destiny has had a good two-week block of training so he will play a part tomorrow, which is a positive for us.”

Two Tottenham players are ruled out of Bayern Munich clash

Tottenham had a really difficult 2023/24 campaign due to injuries.

Postecoglou had to do without the likes of Udogie, Micky van de Ven and James Maddison for big chunks of the season, while Manor Solomon barely played all campaign.

Spurs fans will be hoping for better luck in 2024/25, but for now, two players have been ruled out of the clash against Bayern Munich.

However, Postecoglou seems hopeful of getting them back fit for their Premier League opener against Leicester City.

He said: “Richy and Fraser have got back into training this week and both had a good block of training.

“They won’t feature tomorrow but with another week’s training before the start of the season. Hopefully, they’ll be in a good place.”
