HUGE UPDATE COMING FROM ALABAMA FOOTBALL
Anquin Barnes is heading out west. The former Alabama football defensive lineman announced his transfer to Colorado on Sunday night.
Prior to his sophomore campaign, Barnes will work with Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders. Charles Kelly, the defensive coordinator for Colorado, stayed with the Crimson Tide during Barnes’ two seasons of committment. Two of Alabama’s twenty-one departing transfers, Jahquez Robinson and Demouy Kennedy, went to Colorado in 2023.
After accessing the link on December 11, Barnes tweeted out his proposals from South Carolina and Wisconsin, among other states. Over the course of three seasons, Barnes made one tackle in two games. Barnes, a Montgomery native and four-star prospect in the class of 2021, played on offensive and defensive line.
Along with Tyler Buchner (Notre Dame lacrosse) and Ja’Corey Brooks (Louisville), Barnes is the third player from Alabama who appears to have intentions set for the upcoming season.
Alabama’s first College Football Playoff Semifinal practice took place at the Rose Bowl on Sunday. Without Barnes, the No. 4 Crimson Tide will play Isaiah Hastings, Brooks, and Michigan. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. CT on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, California.
Alabama has a second transfer player to find a new team in college football
In addition to having two former Alabama assistant coaches at Colorado, Deion “Coach Prime” Sanders also has a former Crimson Tide defensive lineman on staff.
Defensive lineman Anquin Barnes Jr. announced on social media on Sunday that he has committed to the Buffalos.
He arrived in Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class from Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, Ala.

Barnes, who arrived as a four-star lineman, owns two SEC Championship rings. He was the fifth person to register with the NCAA transfer portal in search of a new team, and the second defensive lineman to do so.
Barnes is now playing with Charles Kelly and Sal Sunseri on the Colorado Buffaloes.
