‘Woeful’ David Moyes makes it very clear he was unhappy with 25-year-old West Ham man during Crystal Palace draw
David Moyes was left fuming with one West Ham United player in particular after our draw with Crystal Palace this afternoon.
In my opinion, West Ham lost by two points in today’s Premier League match at the London Stadium as they drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace.
Although he seemed satisfied with the point at the end, Hammers boss David Moyes would have been extremely irritated behind closed doors that his team didn’t win the match.
It’s just so frustrating that we had the entire game under control until Odsonne Édouard for the Eagles sneaked in and equalized early in the second half thanks to a really shocking mistake from Konstantinos Mavropanos.
With the exception of a terrible defensive performance against Brentford a few weeks ago, the 25-year-old has actually been fairly good for West Ham since joining the London Stadium from Stuttgart for about £17 million during the summer transfer window (Reuters).
But the Greece international made a terrible error today that cost us two points, and after the game it was evident that Moyes placed the blame squarely at the center-back’s feet.
David Moyes slams West Ham man after Palace draw
Following our frustrating afternoon draw with the Eagles, the Scot spoke to the media.
Furthermore, as reported by WHUFC.com, Moyes had harsh words for Mavropanos without specifically naming him:
We needed to be careful not to give in.However, we gave up and let in a terrible goal. After we move on, that occurs.
The Greek defender made an unforgivable mistake, but hopefully he learns from it.
If we want to contend for a top seven finish this season, we cannot afford to have players showing such elementary distractions at this level.
Mavropanos is an excellent defender; I have no doubts at all. Nevertheless, following his embarrassing performance against Palace today, he needs to get better fast and begin playing with greater consistency if he is to succeed with West Ham.
