Ange’s latest on Bentancur

Ange Postecoglou provided an update on Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury against Aston Villa, stating that the ankle problem is being investigated by our medical staff instead of the knee.

The midfield player was forced off after 32 minutes due to the force of a challenge from Matty Cash. He had started so well as we surged ahead 1-0 in the first half.

Rodrigo’s teammates and fans were visibly disappointed as he hobbled out of the stadium; this was his first start for the Spurs since he had recovered from a cruciate ligament injury that he had suffered in February. In the end, Villa prevailed 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

“I was disappointed to lose him because he started the game so well, you can see his quality, and that’s a reason we got such a foothold in the game,” Ange said in response to a question regarding Rodrigo during our Review Show. You are worried because he is recovering from a serious injury. I believe that the injury is to his ankle rather than his knee, but we don’t need another one at this time given what we’re going through.
