“From what I’m hearing, it’s true” – Romano confirms Tottenham’s interest in highly rated striker with 38 goals

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on Tottenham transfer target Santiago Gimenez.

Gimenez has attracted interest from some of the top clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, Dortmund, Inter and

Tottenham following his most recent showings.

Since joining the Dutch team last summer, the Mexican international has made 54 appearances, contributing 6 assists and scoring 38 goals.

He assisted three goals and scored fifteen goals in his Feyenoord debut season. In just 8 games this season, he already has 12 goals and 2 assists.

The Mexican’s status has now been updated by Fabrizio Romano, who also confirmed that Tottenham “appreciates” him by sending scouts to watch him play recently.

He asserted that although there haven’t been any talks yet, the club is still keeping an eye on the player.

Romano added that although no talks are taking place, some industry sources have estimated Gimenez’s price tag to be between €45 and €50 million.

He wrote the following for Caughtoffside’s Daily Briefing:

“I think Santiago Gimenez will be in an interesting situation. In recent weeks, there have been rumors about Real Madrid and Tottenham after an intermediary discussed the situation. However, the player has since clarified that his father is the only one handling his future. His father is the only one looking out for his future—neither an agent nor an intermediary.”

It’s true, from what I’ve heard, that Tottenham values the player, and they’ve sent scouts to

follow him now, but last season, they had observers keeping an eye on Feyenoord because they were intrigued by manager Arne Slot.

“He was a contender to manage Tottenham before they selected Ange Postecoglou, but they’re definitely keeping an eye on Gimenez right now, even though a lot of other teams are also interested in the player.”

“As of right now, there is no negotiation, so it’s too early to say where he could be going. However, it seems likely that signing him would cost between €45 and €50 million; this is not a report from inside the club, but some industry sources think that could be the asking price.”

Feyenoord, however, is said to have blocked any possible transfer for the upcoming January window, so talks about a move will have to wait until the summer of the following year.

Tottenham would be making a big statement of intent if they were to sign the 22-year-old Mexican striker, especially if they could beat out several elite teams who were vying for him.

Gimenez is a highly sought-after player in European football due to his remarkable goal-scoring record and performances; therefore, potential suitors will probably be very interested in knowing where he will end up.
