What James Maddison was caught on camera saying about Tottenham during England duty

England have been using Tottenham Hotspur’s high-end facilities for quite a while now to prepare for matches, even if they aren’t using the stadium for actual games.

James Maddison has frequently used the Tottenham training facility while playing for Leicester City.

However, following his summer transfer, he is now obviously not just a Spurs player but also one of the team’s top players.

The 26-year-old couldn’t contain his excitement as Gareth Southgate’s team practiced at Tottenham’s training facility over the previous several days in preparation for their Euro 2024 qualifying match against Italy on Tuesday night at Wembley.

Insider information on the players’ training, including the buildup to and post-match reaction to the 1-0 friendly victory against Australia, was made available on England’s official YouTube account.

James Maddison was seen entering the Spurs complex, bags in hand and with the biggest smile on his face, as the camera caught him saying, ‘some gaff this is, isn’t it,’.

James Maddison to start against Italy?

For the 1-0 victory over Australia, Gareth Southgate made several adjustments, resting key players like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Declan Rice.

Given that Maddison started on Friday, it is likely that the playmaker will come off the bench in the matchup with the European champions.

A midfield three of Maddison, Rice, and Bellingham would be entertaining to watch, so it would be fantastic to see him start tonight.
