‘Looks very likely’: Fabrizio Romano says 25-year-old could now sign new contract despite Chelsea links
Federico Dimarco, a defender for Inter Milan, now appears poised to sign a new deal despite Chelsea links.
Fabrizio Romano claims on his YouTube channel that Inter have extended a new contract to Federico Dimarco, who may now be expected to stay with the Italian powerhouses.
End of last month, 90min reported that Chelsea and Manchester City, two of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals, were interested in signing Dimarco.
However, everything is now pointing towards the left-back signing a contract extension and staying at Inter.
Chelsea may have to move someone on before they even consider making a play for Dimarco. Mauricio Pochettino currently has Levi Colwill, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen who can all play on the left side of defence.
Inter Milan make contract proposal
Romano commented on Inter’s attempt to retain Dimarco, saying, “Inter have made a request to extend his contract. The discussion will go on, but Dimarco is excelling for Inter. Although he is one of the most appealing left backs in the game, the negotiations for his contract renewal with Inter will go on.
“Dimarco has consistently stated that he wants to stay and extend the contract. Inter offered their offering; the discussion is still going on, but right now it appears quite likely that Dimarco will stay at Inter.
Federico Dimarco likely to stay at Inter Milan
The Blues already have a ton of alternatives for left-backs, and they’re not all poor ones either, as was already said. It wouldn’t make much sense for Chelsea to prioritize signing another one the next year as only one can play that position.
Naturally, a lot can occur between now and January, with one or more exits being a possibility. However, you wouldn’t say that Dimarco marrying Chelsea is the most likely conclusion right now.
