Harry Kane delivers verdict on Ange Postecoglou and answers ‘regrets’ over quitting league leaders Tottenham
Spurs have rocketed to top of Premier League since England striker left for Bayern Munich – and he’s back at Hotspur Way this week for a return he’s labelled “strange”
Harry Kane believes Ange Postecoglou is just what Tottenham needed and says he likes seeing his old team doing so well.
After an undefeated start to the season, Kane believes Spurs’ fans should be enthusiastic about their future under Postecoglou. Spurs are now top of the Premier League.
Following his summer transfer to Bayern Munich, Kane is getting ready to return to the Tottenham training facility with England this week. There, he will have the chance to bid his former teammates farewell.
The England captain has previously expressed his belief that standards at Spurs have dropped recently. However, he has praised Postecoglou’s accomplishments since his appointment in the summer.
Spurs are performing fairly well. It’s wonderful to watch,” Kane added.
“The way they’re playing, the support from the supporters, and it’s exactly what they needed after the last few years, the manager is doing well for them.
“Spurs and the Premier League are two things I’ll never ignore. Despite the fact that there is still a long way to go, as the manager noted, there is no reason why the supporters shouldn’t be enthusiastic and pleased with how things are progressing. Let’s hope they can go on.
“I adore Tottenham and I want to see Tottenham succeed. Other than Tottenham, there is no team in the Premier League that I want to win.
Kane, who will lead England in their match against Australia on Friday at Wembley, says he finds it “a little bit strange” to watch Spurs games from Germany.
Even though Spurs have had a fantastic start and are being mentioned as early title candidates, he maintains that he would “never regret” choosing Bayern.
“”But in football and life, when you go onto a new adventure, you’re focused and attention is on that,” said Kane, who has scored nine goals in his first 10 games in Germany. “I’m trying to find houses, learn the language, get to know my new team and staff at Bayern Munich. Your attention just gets taken away. Maybe at first it was strange because I was there for so long and all my friends are still there, even the coaches and staff.
“I am here, I am excited and it will always be a decision I never regret. I’m proud to have started the way I have.”
When asked if he expected to play in the tournament, Kane replied: “Hopefully. I am aiming to still be around by then. I will be weeks away from turning 35.” Kane made the statement after it was announced that Euro 2028 would be held on home soil in the UK and Ireland. the tournament’s final will take place at Wembley, where the striker believes England have “unfinished business” after losing there in the Euro 2020 Final.
“I am a player who, at the moment, feels as good as I have ever felt and, yes, I would like to think my career will go to my late thirties – at least,” he said. “As we know, a lot of things can change quickly in football, but at the moment I feel really good. If you ask me now, of course I hope I am there and it means I am still performing at a high level, but you never know. We will see.”
