‘BIG REACTIONS’: James Maddison’s post-match reply sets the new tone at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur picked up a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the North London derby on Sunday.

the signing of For Tottenham, James Maddison put up a strong effort away from home. Despite losing twice in the match, the 26-year-old midfielder picked up two assists for his team and assisted Tottenham in tying the score.

Jan Aage Fjortoft questioned Maddison about his thoughts on his team earning a point away from home at the Emirates after the game.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder replied, “It shows the character of the team under Ange Postecoglou that the visitors earned a point against Arsenal at home.” Maddison’s response demonstrates the change in the club’s culture.

The reporter said: “If you see the development of the team, you were close to losing to Sheffield United, now you come here and take a point again, answering those critics, how far can you go, how far you can develop?”

“I don’t like the phrase take a point,” Maddison responded. “We earned a point. It’s a derby, we deserved one point just as much as them, we don’t take anything. We earned it.

“But we won late at Sheffield United but stuff like that and coming back from behind today shows the character we have and we want to continue to build and that’s going to help us this season.”

Under the Australian manager, Tottenham has adopted a fearless attitude, and this season, they have excelled with their fluid attacking game.

The North London team will want to capitalize on their strong start to the season and contend for a spot in the Champions League the following year.

Last season, they fell short of a top-four finish, and Postecoglou will be required to get them back in the top European competition the following year.

Spurs performed well to come back against Arsenal after falling behind twice, and they will believe that on a different day, they easily could have won all three points.

Two uncharacteristic mistakes from Cristian Romero allowed Arsenal to score twice and the Argentine international will feel that he could have helped his side win the game with a bit more composure at the back.
