Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou makes classic six-word comment on Arsenal penalty decision
Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, had a memorable answer when asked about the penalty call that went against his team in Sunday’s draw with Arsenal in the north London derby. A VAR judgment during the thrilling 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium went against Spurs.
Heung-min Bukayo Saka’s penalty and Cristian Romero’s own goal were both offset by Son’s brace, allowing Arsenal and Tottenham to maintain their perfect starts to the Premier League season.
Following Romero’s close-range hand block of a goal-bound attempt, VAR overturned referee Robert Jones’ decision to not give the hosts a penalty kick, leading to Saka’s goal.
The 22-year-old winger made no errors in shooting down the centre, and a minute later, Spurs scored again to tie the game.
Given that Jones initially didn’t think Romero’s block merited a penalty, Postecoglou was questioned about the penalty judgment following the conclusion of the game.

Since he transferred from Celtic to the Premier League in the summer, journalists have gotten accustomed to the laid-back Australian’s opinions on contentious issues.
And at the Emirates, nothing changed. Postecoglou remained composed, saying, “It is what it is, mate.”
He continued, “It seems like sometimes it hits your hand, and it’s a penalty, and other times it’s not a penalty,” with a touch of annoyance regarding consistency. You hope that everything will work itself out.
Postecoglou put his nagging doubts aside and praised Spurs for their performance, which brought the team’s league winning streak to six games.
“Being pleased with the outcome is not the point,” In response to criticism, Postecoglou said he agreed with the argument.
You can think you’ve escaped after getting a result and a tie, but I didn’t believe that today. We competed head-to-head with a strong team, in my opinion.
Son, who played in a center position alongside Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson on each side, set the example against the Gunners.
Postecoglou also praised the club’s newly elected captain for stepping in to fill the vacuum left by Harry Kane’s transfer to Bayern Munich.
“He’s [Son’s] been outstanding as a leader and as a player,” he continued. Now that I’ve moved him to position nine, he just works so incredibly hard.
His first consideration is always what is best for the team, and he positions himself accordingly before having the ability to complete.
I’m overjoyed for him. Sonny is leading that environment along with Madders and Romero, when I talk about that wonderful one with the players.
