Tottenham in battle with Euro giants to sign £17m star as Postecoglou aims to bolster key area

Gift Orban remains a target for Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly remain interested in signing Gent star Gift Emmanuel Orban in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.

After losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich during the recently closed summer transfer window, it was anticipated that Spurs would attempt to recruit a new striker to fill the void left by the Englishman.

Orban was one of several players who were mentioned as possible candidates for a transfer to the recently restored White Hart Lane. But the North London club made no firm attempts to bring in a new striker before the deadline.

Although Tottenham didn’t officially express their interest in signing Orban this summer, they are still considering a move for him, and Ange Postecoglou’s team may decide to pick up their attempts to secure his services in the future transfer window, according to the report by Fichajes.

However, the report claims that purchasing the Nigerian won’t be straightforward for the North London club as Barcelona and AC Milan are also plotting a swoop for him.

Orban to Tottenham

Orban – valued at around £17m by Transfermarkt – still has four years left in his current contract. So, Gent are likely to demand a sizable amount of money to let their star man leave if they are forced to cash-in. Therefore, Spurs will have to spend big to acquire his service in the upcoming transfer window should they formalise their interest.

After displaying promising performances for Gent last term, scoring 15 goals and registering two assists in 16 Pro League appearances, the African has burst onto the scenes in recent times.

Spurs appear to have chosen to express a strong interest in signing the 21-year-old after being encouraged by his recent performances to help the attack.

Orban is speedy, skilled at long-range passing, effective at stalling play, skilled at long-range goal-scoring, and also has the instinct of a poacher while in the penalty area.

The African player has great potential and is a gifted athlete. Therefore, if Tottenham decides to employ his services, it would be a wise decision to do so with an eye on the long term.

It would be intriguing to watch whether Tottenham ultimately decides to make a serious attempt to sign the Nigerian player in the next months to boost their frontline.
