Pundits agree that £32m Tottenham loanee was team’s best player in the CL last night

Sergio Reguilon, a loanee from Tottenham Hotspur, was deemed to be Manchester United’s top performer last night by Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy.

The two analysts were talking on TalkSPORT following last night’s thrilling 4-3 loss for Erik ten Hag’s team.

Manchester United has had a challenging start to the season due to some disappointing results and a large number of players who are not available for selection.

They came up against Harry Kane, a familiar figure for Tottenham supporters, as Bayern Munich prevailed in a close game Friday night at the Allianz Arena.

For a variety of reasons, Spurs supporters may have been closely following last night’s play in Germany.

In addition to monitoring how Kane’s Champions League debut for his new team went, Sergio Reguilon’s progress was also important to monitor.

The Spanish defender was acquired right at the close of the summer transfer window and is currently on loan at Manchester United until January.

He was initially acquired by Spurs for £32 million, but he also spent last season away from the team after Antonio Conte was unable to persuade him to be a part of his plans.

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham at the moment, reached the same decision, although O’Hara was impressed with Reguilon last night.

He was one of the few bright spots in a night that otherwise wasn’t good for Manchester United.

O’Hara praises Tottenham loanee Reguilon

Last night, O’Hara stated to a somewhat irate Manchester United supporter, “I mean [Sergio] Reguilon was your best player tonight and he’s on loan from Spurs.

Jason Cundy, the co-host, concurred and said: “He was excellent.”

Ange Postecoglou found a bloated Tottenham team that needed to be reduced when he came this summer.

As soon as Destiny Udogie returned from his loan stint at Udinese, Postecoglou developed feelings for the young player.

Reguilon was once again ruled out of consideration at Spurs because of Ben Davies, who is a very reliable backup.

Reguilon will be hoping that a good loan stint at Man United helps him make the best next move in his career. O’Hara was impressed with the Tottenham loanee last night.

It’s very unlikely he’ll work his way back into Postecoglou’s thinking, but Spurs will hope they can make some decent cash by selling the Spaniard in the near future.
